Saud Abdulhamid
Delayed camp arrival
Abdulhamid (not injury related) has been delayed in joining Saudi Arabia's World Cup training camp after his private vehicle was broken into in Amsterdam, resulting in the theft of personal belongings including his passport, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation announced.
Analysis: Abdulhamid will need to wait before joining the Saudi Arabia training camp as the federation is coordinating with the Ministry of Sport to follow up on the investigation while also working with the Saudi Embassy in the Netherlands to issue the necessary documents to enable the player to travel to Riyadh and join the squad as quickly as possible. The federation extended its full support to Abdulhamid during what is an extremely difficult personal circumstance and expressed its hope for his safe arrival at the national team camp ahead of the World Cup.
Option again
Abdulhamid could return to action in the Ligue 1 season finale after serving his two-match suspension.
Analysis: Abdulhamid was forced to miss the last two contests against Nantes and PSG, respectively, due to the red card he received on May 2 versus Nice. He was in great form before that, producing two goals and four assists over his last eight matches between league and cup competitions. He'll look to take the right wing-back spot back from Ruben Aguilar, in which case the Roma loanee could be relied on for all-around stats given his usual two-way effort on the flank.
Suspended for two games
Abdulhamid is ineligible for the next two Ligue 1 matches due to the red card he received against Nice.
Analysis: Abdulhamid will now serve his ban in the upcoming meetings with Nantes and Paris Saint-Germain, so he may not play until the season finale at Lyon. This is a huge loss for Lens, as the full-back was quite productive in recent appearances, tallying two goals and four assists over his last eight club games. Ruben Aguilar is now expected to fill in for him for the length of the suspension.
Sent off against Nice
Abdulhamid received a red card during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Nice.
Analysis: Abdulhamid was punished for a foul he committed in the 81st minute of an otherwise decent performance. The wing-back will consequently be banned for at least the upcoming meeting against Nantes, leaving his side without a regular starter who has produced two goals and four assists over his last eight club games. Ruben Aguilar could be the main beneficiary in terms of playing time until the suspended player is cleared to return.
Scores on Friday
Abdulhamid scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal), nine crosses (three accurate) and eight chances created in Friday's 3-2 victory over Toulouse.
Analysis: Abdulhamid scored the team's first goal in the match, which was his second in the league campaign. The 26-year-old scored with his only shot on goal. Abdulhamid provided nine crosses, and three were accurate.
